Two Toned Butterfly Embossing

I saw this technique on this blog via pinterest and loved it, so tried it myself.  I glued some lighter punched butterflies onto the darker cardstock, then, when they'd dried, I ran the panel through my Big Shot with an embossing folder.

I added a piece of sheer blue ribbon with a butterfly bracelet charm off to one side, then glued the panel to a piece of cream cardstock.

I'm entering this card in Simon Says Stamp's Wednesday challenge, anything goes.

Flipped Butterflies

I've wanted this embossing folder ever since I first saw a project using it, but didn't think I'd ever get my hands on it as it's been discontinued.  Well, I found a site in the U.S. that had atrocious shipping costs but that folder in stock, so I placed an order.

And now it's mine. :D

The concept I had in mind to put gold ink on the raised parts of the embossing folder and letter press them didn't quite work.  I always got residue on the unraised parts, making the final card look pretty bad.  So I finally just embossed the whole thing in black and used a gold pen on the raised parts for the contrast I wanted.

I then added the punched butterflies.  The ink pad was a truer, brighter gold than my pen, but it still looks good.  I matted the embossed panel on a gold panel to aid the contrast, then mounted that on the black card base.

Becomes a Butterfly

This was a pretty quick card I made using one of the paint chips you get at hardware stores.  I started by punching a butterfly from each section, giving a gradient effect.  Then I took a lighter piece of purple cardstock, stamped the Unity Stamps sentiment (which I can now get straight using my stamp positioner.  It's unmounted rubber and it was a pain to get it correctly placed before) in purple ink.  I glued on the butterflies and added a few pearls to the sentiment for effect.

Butterfly Music

I made this card quite a while ago, back when I first got my neon pink ink.  I stamped a music notation background with it on pink paper, then added a bunch of punched black butterflies.  The top butterfly has a pink on over the black and they all have rhinestones in their centres (pink for the black and black for the pink).

I've been frantically making Christmas cards, having realized that the holiday's fast approaching and my time's going to be more limited the closer we get to it.  That means you may see a lot of older unposted cards appearing.  But we'll see.

Happy Easter!

I made this card a few months back, but I love how it turned out.  I started with a piece of green cardstock and found a panel from a Die Cuts for a View paper pad that had a similar colour in it (the leaves).  I added a sparkly black ribbon to cover the join and a few punched butterflies at the bottom.  The trail and sentiment were done with a black metallic gel marker.

Hope you all have a Happy Easter!

Butterfly Cameo Card

I started this card by stamping the butterfly background.  I stamped the lace border and then the cameo, which I backed with black cardstock.  I popped the cameo up with pop-dots and finished the card with some red highlights on the cameo and a red rhinestone.
Supplies:
Cardstock: Recollections, cream resume paper
Stamp: Close to my Heart - Sweet Moments
Ink: Memento, Crayola marker
Dollar store rhinestone
pop-dots

Butterfly Thank You Card

I've started trying to strategically place my die cuts so I can use the window they make on other cards.  For this one, I die cut a butterfly, and put some punched butterflies near by for fun.  The flower and flourishes were done on my silhouette.

Supplies:
Cardstock: Recollections
Spellbinders Jewel flowers & flourishes
Martha Stewart butterfly stamp and punch
dollar store rhinestones
jelly roll metallic pen
Kaisercraft rub on Life (inside the card)

Butterfly Swarm

Can you tell I like butterflies?  This is the birthday card I gave one of my sisters last year.  It's various punched butterflies made from parchment paper on a navy blue cardstock base.

Music and Lace

The next card I tried ink painting a background for was this one:
I was also trying to see how well I could line up the lace stamps (then covered the join).

I'm not quite sure how I feel about this card...

Supplies:
Cardstock: Recollections
Stamps: Close to My Heart - Sweet Moments; Inkadinkado - Music Notes
Punch: Martha Stewart - Arch Lattice
