JustRite Iris Card

I made this card for JustRite's Botanical Bliss challenge, to use a flower and/or butterfly on your card.

I started out by stamping the frame from Botanical Medallions and Banners in purple ink on white cardstock.  I die cut it out using the co-ordinating die (Nested Oval Medallions).  I then stamped the iris from the same stamp set and die cut it out using an oval die from Spellbinders.  I used a Versamark pen and dusted the image with Perfect Pearls.  It turned out too pale, so I added more colour with markers. You can't see it in the picture, but there's a fantastic shimmer to the flowers.

I stamped another piece of white cardstock with Elegant Fronds and embossed it with a light green/aqua embossing powder.  I then rubbed some purple and blue gelatos onto the unembossed sections.

I layered a piece of light purple ribbon on top of a darker shimmery ribbon, and wrapped it around the embossed panel.  I glued the panel on a purple card base and then glued the medallion on top.  The Iris panel was added with pop dots and a die cut butterfly glued to the side.

Butterfly Window Screen Card

I made this card following the video for Papertrey Ink's Make It Monday challenge to make a window screen card.

I wanted to do something a little different, so I made my window using 4 wing tip to wing tip butterfly die cuts.  Since the butterfly design wasn't obvious, I used a different die from the same set (Beautiful Butterflies die collection) and alternated it upright and upside down several times to make the die cut panel in my patterned paper.

I stamped some flowers from the Daydreamer stamp set in complementary colours around the frame, cut my parchment screen and layered them.

At this point I realized I didn't have room for a sentiment and my frame was quite large, so I took two of the die cut butterflies I'd used to help space the frame cuts and glued them together.  I added a sentiment - also from Daydreamer - and glued the butterflies to the card.  I finished it off by adding 3 mini flowers.  They're officially for nail art, but I thought they'd word well as rhinestone substitutes.

Fancy Butterfly Card

I've wanted to do some more complicated cards but didn't have time before - or during - the holidays. So I manufactured some extra time for crafting and came up with this window card.

I wanted to use the 'Verdant' stamp from Penny Black and my new Cheery Lynn butterfly dies.

I started the card by die cutting the base card and then die cutting the insert (Spellbinders Radiant Rectangles).  I then needed another double die I could use for the 'window'.  I picked out JustRite's Nested Oval Medallion dies for that.  I inked the area between the dies so there would be some distinction for my frame.

Then I marked off where my frame would go on the card and masked the outside so I could stamp the leaves a few times.  I used black and grey inks for that.

I die cut a Spellbinder's vine to cross the window and give my butterfly something to sit on.  For the butterfly I die cut an outline and a detail.  The outline I coloured with metallic gelatos then layered the detail die cut on top (you can't see it, but the shimmery gelatos come through the holes on the top butterfly).

Here's the finished card:

Simple Layered Butterfly Card

I made this card a while back but forgot to post it.

It was an easy card to make.  A purple cardstock back, a piece of patterned paper with a butterfly die cut out (using a Papertrey Ink die) and 2 corners round punched, and corrugated paper underneath.  I used pop dots to keep the patterned paper raised around the corrugated paper and finished the card with some glitter glue dots in 2 corners.

Butterfly Beauty

I've got another older card to show you today.  I embossed the background and punched the bottom edge and all the butterflies.  Beauty was stamped in purple in in one corner and some jewels were added at the centers of the curls.  I'm hoping to have some new cards for you later this week.

Butterfly Flourish

This is the female card I made using the same inspiration as yesterday's masculine card.

I started out by punching the heart border, and stamped the flourish starting just below where the border would go (the flourish is 2 stamps as the flourish didn't seem 'grand' enough with just the one).  The butterfly was stamped on vellum and coloured with markers.  I added some glitter glue to the wings for shimmer.  I added a bit of glitter to the flowers on the flourish and two crystals for effect.  Again, I'll add a sentiment when I know to whom/why I'm sending it.

And a close-up of the butterfly:

Birthday Bash Challenge

I'm submitting this card to CAS-ual Fridays' Birthday Bash Challenge.  CAS means Clean and Simple, so I wanted something without much embellishment.  I started out by die cutting a butterfly (Papertrey Ink) from dark purple paper (I've used the negative of that sheet in another card I'll post later this week).  I then used CAS-ual Fridays' Countdown set for the sentiment and image.  The image is designed to be stamped straight, but I curved it on my stamping block to get this effect.  The backing paper is a lighter purple, and the ink, Grape by Memento.  I attached the butterfly using pop dots.

Spring Time

I suddenly realized that I got my new Um Wow Studio kit a while ago but haven't used it yet.  So I made this card.  All the embellishments, including the ribbon, are from the kit.  The backing cardstock is kraft, there's a trellis stamped in cream on the green paper, and the stems were done with markers on a Papertry Ink stamp (Daydreamers - I love that set!).  And there you have it, a quick, attractive, spring card.

Butterfly Train

I thought this week would be less busy than last week, as that's not the case you're getting another, older card.

The butterfly was cut on the Silhouette, and I used hot fix rhinestones for the 'train'.

Supplies:
Cardstock: Recollections
Rhinestones: Imaginesce

Birthday Butterfly and Flower Card

This card only uses a bit of ink painting, but I managed to do it without any lines.  Just nicely blended ink.

I like the effect you get with Spellbinders dies, but don't own any (yet).  To get the effect - the uninked rim around my circle - I cut shapes with my silhouette out of acetate that are just a bit smaller than the circles/shapes I cut out from cardstock.  When I layer the acetate outline over my cardstock, I can ink inside the circle and still have a crisp white outline.  You don't get the embossing on the outer edge that the Spellbinders die would give you, unfortunately, but it still looks pretty good.  :)

Supplies:
Cardstock: Recollections
Stamps: Close to my Heart - Delight, Kaiser Craft - Birthday Sentiments
Ink: Memento
Punch: EK Success Lily Pad 2-in-1 edger punch
Hot-set rhinestones
