Thank You Card Sets

I decided to make a bunch of Thank You cards and give sets of them away to friends for Christmas this year.  Towards that end, I took a took a look at the cards I've done in the past and recreated a bunch of them with different colours and slightly different designs.  Here's what I came up with.

 I stamped a floral design on my card base (flowers for women, cattails for  men) and then added a punched panel accross the bottom.  I stamped my sentiment and added a punched butterfly or dragonfly as an accent.  I used white ink on the dark pink card (as the other tones I tried seemed to clash too much).  The white ink didn't come out solid, so I filled in the flowers with a white pen (I could have embossed with white as well, but I like how it turned out).

Elegant Thank You Card

This is a thank you card I made for an older friend of mine.  I wanted something elegant, and I wanted to use feathers.

The card itself was pretty simple to put together.  I used a piece of black cardstock for the base and a piece of deep red paper I got in a pack from the dollar store (it's a solid red with creases and splotches of darker red on it).  I glued on the feather and put the black velvet ribbon over the point and then laid down the pearls.  I thought afterwards the edge of the Zva Creative flourish should have met up with the feather, but they didn't want to move without taking bits of paper with them, so I left them be.

I used a metallic gel pen to write the message inside.

Thank You Card Set

I've seen a lot of card crafters do card sets and want to start putting some together myself.  So I used this card sketch from the Papercrafts Connection blog as my inspiration.  Instead of centering the stripe, I put it in the lower 1/3 position.  The 'Thank You' sentiment is from Papertrey Ink.

The cards themselves were easy to make.  I punched the panel on both sides out of a contrasting colour, glued it on the card base and stamped the sentiment.  Despite their simplicity, I think they look really good.

Papertrey Ink Thank You! card

It occurred to me that I should do something nice for Papertrey Ink for being so generous, so I decided to send them a thank you card.  This isn't the first project I did with their stamps so I remembered to condition the stamps with an eraser, hence, the crisp inking on the flowers and sentiment.

It was also my first time using the largest die from the Spellbinders Decorative Labels 8 set.  I forgot to put in the wax paper, and so had some trouble getting the die off without ripping the cardstock.  Luckily some careful prying got the paper loose.  Alas, I didn't think to ink the edges before removing it, so it doesn't have the crisp lines such sponged ink outlines usually do.  It ended up looking a bit more distressed than I'd planned, but it's fine.

I stamped the flowers (Daydreamer) and sentiment (Think Big Favorites 2) in Papertrey Ink Royal Velvet, with green Crayola marker for the stems and grass.

The butterfly is from the Beautiful Butterfly Die collection.  I inked the edges with PTI Winter Wisteria ink (the same as the card base).  I thought it needed more, so I went around the edge with an Atyou Spica glitter pen and then used glitter glue on the body and wings.

Thankful Kitties

This is a card I made for the friend who took care of our cats while we were in Germany this May.  We've 2 kitties, one mostly white with a tiny pink nose and the other a unique mix of black and brown. My husband and I have a joke that the kitties party while we're away, hence the balloons. :)
